                                                                       Beth Dyer


age 68, was born June 17, 1940, and died Wednesday, July 2, 2008. She was a resident and native of Grosse Tete. Preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ella Beth Dyer; brother, Leroy Webster; and husbands, Tobin Robertson and Frank Ball. Survived by her sons, Michel Dyer and Landon Dyer; daughter, Melinda Shaneyfelt and son-in-law, Eddie Shaneyfelt; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Dyer; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Over the years, Beth was a friend of Bill W. In her 28 years of AA, she played an active role as a sponsor; she often took alcoholics and drug addicts into her own home and helped them on their road to recovery. Many lives were touched by her selfless ability to love people "where they were." She gave of her time in endless conversations, many times all hours of the night, giving support and hope to those in need. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, on Monday, July 7, from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by family and friends. Interment in Rosedale Cemetery. Denis Curtin "Curt" Kelley left this Earth to join his beloved family who went before him
Know as "Big Curt" "Sweet Curt" and "Curt the Elder" by those who know him, his favorite name was "friend" to many hundreds he came to know through the years.
A graduate of Catholic High School And LSU, heserved in the U.S. Marine Corps and finally settled in Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jane and Dick Kelley .
He is survived by his four children, Curt Kelly and wife Sharyn,Rebel Caplinger and husband Charlie,Dorcas Kelley and husbandGabrielle Bernier, and Kerry Sichel and husband Michael; six grand children;three sisters,Sharon Shelton-Pease and husband Tim,Erin DuPont and husband John, and Robin Jones and Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He left behind a dear and loving friend, LuLu Lieux Visitation at the family home,"The Oaks,"4979 Highland Road, was on Tuesday,Dec.5,from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. In Lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations be made to either Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Catholic High School or "Club 12."
James A. "Red" Daigre Sr.
 


A retired oilfield employee and a resident and native of Grosse Tete, he passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 12, 2008, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 82 and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Visiting at Grosse Tete Baptist Church, Grosse Tete, on Thursday, Aug. 14, was from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Visiting resumes at the church on Friday from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Billy Sutton, pastor. Interment in Rosedale Cemetery, Rosedale. He is survived by two daughters, Linda Horne, and Crystal and husband Eddie Joe Wilson; two sons, John "Goochie" Daigre, and Dennis McCall and wife Darla; sister, Gloria Ann Graves and husband James Sr.; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leroy and Eula Mae Daigre, Floyd and Shirley Daigre, Shelby Daigre, and Donald and Marjorie Daigre; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a son, James Daigre Jr.; parents, Charles and Annie Persick Daigre; brother, Charles A. "Bill" Daigre; niece, Glyn Daigre; and sister-in-law, Daisy Daigre. He was an avid hunter and gardener. Arrangements by Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine.
